Chicken Stew

Back to the Basics

Basic chicken stew is delicious, filling, and simple to make. Stew results when two or more ingredients are simmered together in liquid that becomes a part of the dish. A basic chicken stew can be made with broth, a cream based liquid, or a combination of the two. Whole chickens or boneless chicken can be used in the recipes. Combine the chicken with your favorite vegetables and before you know it, you are spooning out some delicious stew into a bowl and serving it with hot biscuits. Stew is a wonderful way to use up leftover chicken, too. Make your stew in the oven, on the stove or in a slow cooker. It is a very forgiving dish, so do not let it intimidate you.

International Chicken Stew Recipes

Almost every culture has a version of chicken stew. Whether it is cooked with curry, tomatoes, milk, or chilies, chicken stew easily picks up the flavors of many different cuisines with a slight change of ingredients. Asia, India, Africa, Mexico, and more all have their own versions of chicken stew. If you are thinking of adding another cuisine to your cooking repertoire, starting with a stew is an easy way to work into it. A stew will get you familiarized with the different seasonings and spices used in your chosen cuisine. You will be amazed at how different a curry chicken stew tastes from a Chinese chicken stew or a Moroccan chicken stew. Take a look at our recipes and give one a try.
