Delicious Dutch Pea Soup

The Dutch have many soups for which they are famous, and one of their most famous soups is their delicious pea soup. The Dutch will often prepare this soup when the temperature drops, and you will find that most Dutch children cannot get enough of this soup when the days are cold. You may find that your children will also come to love the soup, as it is rich, filling, and the perfect dish to fill you with warmth on a cold day. While it may not be the low fat dish you want to make with peas, it will still be a great dish to enjoy any time you want to get warm in a hurry.

The Dutch pea soup recipe below calls for the peas to be cooked with Kielbasa sausage, one of the most famous of the European meat sausages. The sausage infuses the soup with flavor, a flavor that is complemented by the addition of a few carrots and potatoes. Cooking the soup in a mixture of milk and chicken broth enriches it even more, and the entire combination is simply salted and has pepper added to make it the perfect dish to enjoy any time of the year.

While the traditional Dutch pea soup recipe calls for Kielbasa pork sausage, you can change it up if you are avoiding pork products. A good beef sausage will be a pleasant replacement, or even turkey bacon will be a great choice. As long as you use a meat that is flavorful and delicious, you will find that your Dutch pea soup recipe is complete. You can whip up this soup in no time, and you will find that the rich combination of flavors and textures will make the perfect dish for you to enjoy no matter what the weather is like.
